From the opening ceremony at Atlanta City Hall Atrium on Thursday evening to the final basketball game at Forbes Arena at Morehouse College on Saturday night, the AMB 40th Anniversary National Summit was a celebration of everything Midnight Basketball has stood for since 1986 — community, accountability, purpose, and hope.
Media crews were on-site throughout the weekend. Chapter directors, civic leaders, law enforcement partners, youth participants, and community advocates came together under one roof for an event unlike any in AMB's history. The Broken Crayons Still Color Youth Safety & Mental Health Summit brought powerful simulations, real conversations, and genuine connection. The 40th Anniversary Basketball Games brought the competition — and the crowd.

Submit Your PhotosThe Summit opened at Atlanta City Hall Atrium with the official Meet & Greet, Opening Ceremony, 40th Anniversary Legacy Moment, Summit Framing, and a Press Conference — followed by the Mayor's Office Networking Reception from 6:30–8:00 PM. Media crews were on-site from the start.
The morning program at Rosel Fann Recreation Center ran 9:00 AM–12:00 PM with the full history of Midnight Basketball, chapter testimonials, sponsor recognition, featured voices, and board presentations — closed with a Lunch with the President & Board Members open to all delegates.
The Youth Safety & Mental Health Summit brought together immersive simulations — Mock Car Crash with Atlanta Fire Rescue & EMS, Mock Funeral, Mock Trial, Incarceration, and Reentry — designed to move youth and families from understanding consequences to choosing a better path.
At 3:30 PM Saturday, Forbes Arena at Morehouse College came alive as the 40th Anniversary Midnight Basketball Games officially tipped off. Chapter teams competed, fans packed the stands wearing the AMB chapter map t-shirts, and the arena celebrated four decades of community impact.
Multiple television and documentary crews covered the Summit throughout the weekend — from the opening reception at City Hall to interviews on the Forbes Arena floor. The 40th Anniversary of Midnight Basketball reached audiences beyond the room.
The 40th Anniversary Awards program honored the people, chapters, cities, and partners whose service has carried the Association through four decades — including the Partner City of the Year (City of Atlanta / Mayor Dickens) and Chapter Director of the Year (Ramondo Davis).
